Co-Teaching Models

Location:RM# 214 Presenter:Corene Anderson & Elizabeth Pokorny
Division:ECC/Elementary/IE

Description: Co-Teaching is becoming a more common occurrence in international schools as teachers and administrators understand the value of having two professionals - either another certified teacher or non-certified teaching assistant - to share (or support) in instructional planning, teaching and meeting the various educational needs of students in the classroom. Research shows that students with disabilities benefit from teachers working together to make the curriculum more accessible to them. Co-teaching also increases opportunities for differentiated learning by giving students more time to review learned material while providing them with additional explanations and support from two different teachers. The goal of this workshop is to learn about eleven effective co-teaching strategies that will capitalize on your mutual strengths and transfer to effectively planned lessons that support learning - for all types of learners - in the classroom.
